Include red flag words/phrases, drop clues, and include characters reaction. Then reveal at the end!!!
Example-
I leaned against the wall of the cave shining my flashlight this way and that. "I am not nervous!" I said out loud. My voice echoed eerily around the deep, dark cave and sent a shiver down my spine. Then, to my surprise, there was another sound, a low, rumbling kind of sound, followed by a swish, swish, swish. I stood perfectly still. Suddenly there was a roaring sound, followed by a flashing flickering light, as htough there was a fire. This was followed by a huge blast of heat. I rushed aroudn the bend in the passageway and gasped. There in the corner of the cave stood a dragon!!

mike strolled the foest path in india. it was his first time there and he had been waiting so long for it. suddenly he saw a flash of orange. it must be my imagination he thought.
he looked along the greenness srounding him. he heared a sort of wailing sound. he paused, dead still in his tracks. "what was that?" he stammered he tossed his head this way and that, chattering his teeth like marracas. and he kept on walking.
shuffing his feet, dust trailling behind him like a stampeed, he heared a fourious "roar" making him more scared than he ever was before. he followed the sound and , there in the mist of the jungle, stood a tiger.
Ellie strolled the field full of corn and the old scarcrow named Jerry. "the corn is very good. why don't you try some!" Ellie turned around "who said that?!" "me!" this is scary Ellie thought. "can you help me down?" it's nothing, my imagination. and she only took one step and saw old Jerry dancing on two feet, ALONE!!!!!!!!!
"Swoosh, swoosh," Mike scanned the area infront of him. "Ah,"A gentle breeze whooshed by Mike's ears. That must be what that sound was. Mike continued to trudge along the narrow and overgrown trail.
Suddenly there was a "CRACK!" Mike whirled around but saw only the empty trail. What could it be? Could it be a native to this land? A shiver ran dow n Mike's spine as he thought about the various things it could be. He cautiously tiptoed on the trail.
"GRRRRRRRRRR!" Suddenly, there was a loud growl from behind Mike. H e stopped dead in his tracks. He slowly turned around. Mike peered through the underbrush into the eyes of a TIGER!!!!!!
"Hmmmmmmmm,Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm," Instantly there was the faint sound of humming. Ellie just ignored it as though it was just her. The grass in the park tickled her bare ankles.
Suddenly, as Ellie bent down to tie her shoe there was a CRACK. Ellie whipped her head around expecting to see another hiker, but to her suprise nobody was there. "No need to worry nobody is there," Ellie said to herself.
Without warning, a rustle came from behind a tree. Ellie peered behin a tree but the rustling sound came again. Ellie whirled around to find herself face to face with a dancing scarecrow.

"CCrrrrrrrrrrrr!" I spun around as fast as I could with tears in my eyes. What ever that monsterous creature was, I new it was waiting to pounce on my flesh. Smoke started to linger throughout. My eyes started to water even more as I wished I was home and never left. Without warning, a flash of emerald scales swiped by me. Then, a sharp pain stung my back. I spun around again to see what looked like an overgrown lizard. I was face to face with an angry dragon.
